89 LEFAUCHEUX Pin Fire Double Barrel Drop Breech Shotgun, circa late 1830's, 12 ga. Extraordinary condition, Serial # 789 -

All original in excellent condition Lefaucheux Pin Fire Drop Breech 12 ga. Double Barrel, with 28-1/4 inch barrels. Very tight action, bores are shiny, no dings in barrel, with excellent stock. Casimir Lefaucheux (1802 - 1852) was a French gunsmith, and obtained his first patent in 1827. In 1832, he completed a drop-barrel sporting gun with paper-cased cartridges. Casimir Lefaucheux is credited with the invention of one of the first efficient self-contained cartridge system in 1836, featuring a pin-fire mechanism. Lefaucheux's shotgun, which loaded from the breech rather than the muzzle, in itself was not new. What was new was that he used a self-contained paper tube that held both the charge and the shot in one handy shell. This shell was fired from a pin fire primer in the rear that was struck by a hammer in the rear of breech. Condition as shown. Please view ALL photographs.

106 NAZI LUFTWAFFE Double Barrel AVIATORS FLARE PISTOL, Maker - KRIEGHOFF, circa 1940's, Serial # 23589 - This is an excellent example of the Nazi Luftwaffe Flieger-Leuchtpistole L or Aviators Flare Gun L.
These double-barreled, 26.5mm (4 Bore) signal pistols were issued to German Luftwaffe aircrews in order to give them a method of communication that did not rely on their radio transmitters.
This pistol was manufactured by  the extremely famous Krieghoff firearms company Ulm, Germany.  The tops of the barrels are both marked with a 4 in a circle (4-Bore) over the Luftwaffe Stick Eagle acceptance mark. This same proof appears on the rear of the receiver between the L and R barrel selector marks, and is covered when the selector switch is in the middle or both barrels position.  The signal pistol is marked with the serial number 23589 on the forward lower portion of the right hand side of the frame, and the Luftwaffe contract number F1 24483 is present on the opposite side of the frame. The gun has a frame mounted safety with Fire and Safe markings.  This Flare Gun L is in fantastic condition. The pistol retains about 95% of its original blackened phosphate finish, with most of the wear and finish loss confined to the sharp and high edges and the muzzle crowns, along with some minor handling nicks and scratches. The pistol is in excellent mechanical condition and functions perfectly, with a very crisp, tight action.  The two-piece mottled reddish-brown Bakelite grips are in excellent condition as well. They retain sharp checkering, with only the most minor handling and finish wear. They are free of any of the breaks, chips or cracks which often mar Bakelite grips, especially when they are nearly 70 years old !!  Condition as shown. Please view ALL photographs.
